Namibia School of Diplomatic Studies Celebrates Graduates at Certificate Handover Ceremony

Namibia School of Diplomatic Studies Celebrates Graduates at Certificate Handover Ceremony. The Namibia School of Diplomatic Studies held a certificate handover ceremony at the University of Namibia on March 10, 2025, recognizing graduates for their successful completion of diplomatic training programs.

Hon. Dr. Peya Mushelenga, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, officially presented the certificates and emphasized the importance of diplomatic academies in preparing students for careers in international relations. “Diplomatic academies equip students with the necessary skills for negotiations and informed political and economic analysis. They also enhance professionalism in diplomatic careers,” he stated.

Dr. Mushelenga highlighted the Ministry’s collaboration with the University of Namibia through a Memorandum of Understanding, ensuring that diplomatic training meets high academic standards. He commended the graduates for their dedication and urged them to apply their newfound knowledge in their roles. “There should be an improvement in the quality of your output, symbolizing that you are better equipped than before,” he emphasized.

Encouraging aspiring diplomats to deepen their understanding of Namibia’s foreign policy, he advised them to seize professional opportunities and embrace continuous learning.

The graduates completed three specialized short courses:

  • 33 graduates in International Relations
  • 34 graduates in Namibia International Relations and Cooperation
  • 41 graduates in Management for International Relations and Cooperation

A total of 98 certificates were awarded, with 52 graduates attending the ceremony in person—some receiving multiple certificates.

Since its launch in February 2023, the Namibia School of Diplomatic Studies has aimed to establish itself as a leading institution for diplomatic training, research, and community engagement. The ceremony marked another step toward strengthening Namibia’s diplomatic expertise and global engagement.
