Namibia Launches New Digital Trust System to Streamline Registration

Namibia Launches New Digital Trust System to Streamline Registration. The Namibian Ministry of Justice has announced the launch of a new Integrated Trust System, an Electronic Case Management System designed to modernize the registration and administration of trusts. The system is set to go live on Friday, 21 February 2025, and marks a major step in the country’s efforts to digitize legal processes.

According to the Master of the High Court, Trust Division, the new system will initially focus on lodging new trust registrations, while amendments, deregistrations, and changes to existing trusts will still be processed through the old system.

To ensure a seamless transition, a data migration process will begin on Monday, 24 February 2025, and is expected to take three months. Trust holders and legal practitioners are urged to finalize any pending trust applications by 20 February 2025 to avoid having to reapply under the new system.

The introduction of the electronic trust management platform is expected to bring greater efficiency, transparency, and accessibility to Namibia’s trust administration process. By digitizing records and applications, the system aims to reduce paperwork, minimize delays, and enhance security in trust management.

This initiative aligns with Namibia’s broader efforts to embrace digital transformation in governance. By streamlining administrative procedures, the Ministry of Justice is ensuring faster processing times and improved service delivery for citizens and businesses dealing with trust registrations.

Stakeholders have welcomed the development, recognizing it as a crucial modernization effort that will enhance Namibia’s ease of doing business and legal efficiency. The Ministry of Justice has assured the public of a smooth implementation process and appreciates the cooperation of all involved in making this transition successful.
