Namibia Expands FM Radio Access with New Transmission Tower on Impalila Island

Namibia Expands FM Radio Access with New Transmission Tower on Impalila Island. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), through the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), has completed the construction of an FM transmission tower on Impalila Island in the Kabbe Constituency, Zambezi Region. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s commitment to improving communication access and ensuring that all citizens have reliable access to information.

ICT Minister Emma Theofelus and Executive Director Audrin Mathe officiated the inauguration of the new tower, marking a significant step in bridging the communication gap in remote areas. The FM transmission tower is expected to enhance radio signal coverage, allowing residents of Impalila Island and surrounding areas to receive clearer and more consistent broadcasts.

Access to information is a key pillar of national development, and this investment aligns with Namibia’s broader efforts to improve digital inclusion and connectivity. Radio remains one of the most accessible and influential forms of communication, particularly in rural regions where internet and television access may be limited.
