Namibia and South Africa Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Ties During Diplomatic Courtesy Call. Honourable Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, welcomed H.E. Ms. Thenjiwe Mtintso, High Commissioner of South Africa to Namibia, during a courtesy call held on 23 May 2025.
The meeting underscored the longstanding relationship between Namibia and South Africa, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors. The engagement highlighted the importance of maintaining close diplomatic dialogue and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.
Honourable Ashipala-Musavyi and High Commissioner Mtintso acknowledged the solid foundation of bilateral relations, which are supported by over 90 formal agreements between the two nations. These agreements facilitate cooperation in various fields, including trade, infrastructure, education, health, and security.
During the exchange, the two officials also shared perspectives on the evolving geopolitical climate, with particular attention to ongoing global conflicts. Both expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, reflecting a shared commitment to international peace, justice, and the protection of human rights.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the importance of continued engagement and cooperation through existing diplomatic frameworks. Both leaders emphasized the value of unity and dialogue in addressing shared challenges and advancing regional and global peace efforts.
