Namibia and Egypt Reaffirm Bilateral Ties as New Ambassador Presents Credentials. Namibia and Egypt have reaffirmed their longstanding relationship following the presentation of Letters of Credence by Her Excellency Ramia Shawky Abdelsalam, the Ambassador-designate of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Namibia. The ceremony took place on 11 September 2025, where the Ambassador presented copies of her credentials to the Honourable Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade.
The meeting marked an important moment in Namibia–Egypt relations, as both sides reflected on the historic ties of friendship that have defined cooperation between the two nations over the years. Discussions during the engagement centred on enhancing bilateral relations, with a strong emphasis on economic development as a driver of mutual prosperity.
The Honourable Minister underscored the significance of building on existing diplomatic ties to foster stronger collaboration across multiple sectors. For her part, Ambassador Abdelsalam expressed Egypt’s commitment to working closely with Namibia to expand opportunities for cooperation, noting the potential for increased partnership in trade, investment and development.
The exchange reaffirmed both governments’ shared vision of consolidating their partnership while adapting to emerging global challenges. By strengthening cooperation in economic development, Namibia and Egypt aim to reinforce the foundations of a relationship that continues to hold strategic importance.
