Namdeb Medical Laboratory Honoured for COVID-19 Response Efforts. The Namdeb Medical Laboratory has received a prestigious recognition from the Namibia Association of Medical Laboratory Science (NAMLS), under the Ministry of Health and Social Services, for its pivotal contribution during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The award was presented during the recent Scientific Congress, acknowledging the lab’s instrumental role in reducing the impact of the pandemic through efficient testing, frontline dedication, and consistent public health support. This national recognition highlights the critical, behind-the-scenes efforts of medical laboratory professionals who played a foundational role in Namibia’s pandemic response.
Representing the Namdeb Medical Laboratory at the event were Wollen Nell, Liopa Haidula, and Hendrick Hedimbi, who proudly accepted the award on behalf of the team. The honour serves not only as a reflection of their past efforts but also as an inspiration to continue driving excellence in health services across the region.
Namdeb, known primarily for its contributions to Namibia’s mining industry, emphasized its broader commitment to community well-being and national resilience through its healthcare initiatives. The recognition is a reminder of how multi-sectoral support was vital in navigating the unprecedented public health crisis brought on by COVID-19.
While the world has moved beyond the peak of the pandemic, the lessons and collaborations that emerged during that time continue to shape a more prepared and united healthcare system in Namibia. Namdeb Medical Laboratory remains committed to delivering high standards of service as part of its ongoing mission to contribute to a healthier, more resilient society.
