MICT and Telecom Namibia Strengthen Collaboration to Advance Digital Transformation. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) reaffirmed its strategic oversight of Telecom Namibia during a high-level engagement held today at Telecom Namibia’s Head Office in Windhoek. The meeting marked the first quarterly strategic dialogue between the Ministry and Telecom Namibia since the Ministry resumed its regulatory mandate following recent changes in government structure.
Hon. Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, led the engagement alongside the boards and executive management of Telecom Namibia and its subsidiary, Powercom. The meeting focused on aligning Telecom Namibia’s operational priorities with national digital inclusion goals and reinforcing its role in accelerating Namibia’s digital agenda.
Key points discussed included Telecom Namibia’s efforts toward network modernization, national fiber rollout, 5G infrastructure expansion, and overall service quality improvement. These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to bridging digital divides and enhancing connectivity across urban and rural areas.
Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, CEO of Telecom Namibia, welcomed the renewed oversight and expressed optimism about the strengthened collaboration. “We are aligned with the national vision for a connected and digitally capable Namibia. These discussions provide a strong foundation for shared progress in our infrastructure and service delivery objectives.”
