Kharas Governor Urges Gender Ministry Staff to Serve with Passion and Dedication. At the start of the new year, Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick delivered an inspiring message to the staff of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare. She emphasized the importance of continuing their work with dedication, creating an environment where every resident of the region can thrive.
Speaking at the ministry’s opening ceremony on Friday, Frederick reminded the team that they hold the power to bring hope to the most vulnerable members of society. The ministry, she said, plays a crucial role not only in promoting gender equality but also in ensuring the social well-being of the region as a whole.
“The work you do has a far-reaching impact, from social grants to economic empowerment initiatives for women and community development programs,” Frederick stated. “These efforts have empowered families, built resilience, and fostered sustainable growth in our communities.”
The governor also called on the team to focus on the pressing challenges faced by vulnerable groups such as the elderly, destitute women, girls, young men, and children living on the streets—particularly in Keetmanshoop. She stressed that addressing these issues demands immediate action and a unified approach.
“We must work together with a shared sense of urgency,” Frederick said. “By joining forces, we can ensure that no one is left behind as we build a more equitable future for everyone in the region.”
In addition to the opening ceremony, the event also served as a farewell for Gaudentia Kröhne, who is stepping down from her role in the ministry to take up a position in the National Assembly. Kröhne, who has been with the ministry since 2010, will soon be representing the Swapo party as the eleventh member on their parliamentary list.
Frederick congratulated Kröhne on her new national leadership role, expressing confidence that she will continue to honorably represent Kharas while advocating for the ministry’s work at the national level.
In her parting words, Kröhne encouraged her former colleagues to continue delivering compassionate, efficient services to the community, always treating people with respect and kindness.
