FNB Namibia Named Africa’s Top Tech Bank for 2025 by The Banker

FNB Namibia Named Africa’s Top Tech Bank for 2025 by The Banker. FNB Namibia has been awarded the 2025 Africa Regional Winner at The Banker’s Technology Awards, securing its place among the continent’s leading innovators in digital banking.

The award recognises FNB Namibia’s impactful use of technology to improve financial inclusion, particularly through solutions tailored to underserved and remote communities. The bank impressed judges with key initiatives such as CashPlus, which brings banking services closer to people by partnering with local merchants who operate as banking agents. This model allows customers to access key financial services without the need to travel to a traditional bank branch.

Another standout feature in the bank’s offering is its zero-rated mobile banking app, which allows users to perform transactions at no data cost — a significant barrier-breaker for individuals in low-income or data-constrained environments. These innovations support the bank’s goal to reduce the digital divide and make banking more accessible across Namibia.

FNB Namibia’s win comes from a pool of more than 200 submissions globally, affirming its position not only as a national leader in banking technology but also as a continental benchmark in inclusive digital transformation.

In a statement following the announcement, FNB Namibia highlighted that the recognition aligns with its ongoing mission to merge innovation with customer empowerment. The bank reaffirmed its commitment to rolling out scalable, secure, and user-friendly platforms that meet real needs on the ground.
