Expanded Opportunities for Artists: Africa-Europe Mobility Grants Announced

Expanded Opportunities for Artists: Africa-Europe Mobility Grants Announced. The Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Sub-Saharan Africa, Connect & Create programme has officially opened its call for proposals, inviting artists and culture professionals to apply for mobility grants. These grants are designed to strengthen professional exchange and collaboration between practitioners across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.

The initiative supports individuals working in diverse fields including visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, film, media arts, cultural heritage, design, architecture, and fashion. Successful applicants will be able to pursue opportunities such as peer learning, research, co-creation, exhibitions, and creative practice, with a strong emphasis on positioning African professionals at the centre of international cultural dialogue.

Applications must be submitted individually, even if the applicant is part of a collective or organisation. Each applicant is expected to clearly outline their own professional development priorities. Eligible mobilities must begin on or after 1 June 2026, ensuring that projects are forward-looking and aligned with the programme’s timeline.

The deadline for applications is 15 March 2026 at 23:59 CAT. Interested individuals can apply through the Goethe Application Portal (GAP) at https://portal.gap.goethe.de/en-US/. Full details of the call are available at www.goethe.de/aepc.

This programme forms part of broader Africa-Europe cultural cooperation efforts under the #GlobalGateway framework, highlighting the importance of creative exchange in strengthening ties between the African Union and the European Union. By supporting mobility, the initiative seeks to foster innovation, build networks, and amplify African voices in global cultural narratives.

With the deadline approaching, artists and culture professionals across both continents are encouraged to prepare their applications promptly to take advantage of this opportunity for growth and collaboration.
