Erongo RED Urges Pensioners and Disability Grant Recipients to Re-Register for Subsidized Electricity Tariffs. Erongo Regional Electricity Distributor (Erongo RED) has issued a public notice to all pensioners and disability grant recipients who are electricity account holders, urging them to re-register for subsidized tariffs ahead of the upcoming deadline on Thursday, 31 July 2025.
The re-registration is a mandatory annual requirement and serves as proof of existence to ensure eligible individuals continue receiving the subsidy. Failure to complete the re-registration process will result in the automatic cancellation of the subsidized tariff for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Pensioners and grant recipients are required to visit their nearest Erongo RED Customer Care Office with the following documents:A valid Identification Card (ID)Proof of property ownershipProof of receiving a pension or disability grantElectricity account number or prepaid meter number
Erongo RED emphasized that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to caring for vulnerable citizens, ensuring that qualifying individuals are able to access affordable electricity as part of broader efforts to improve household well-being.
New applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can also register at any time throughout the year. However, existing beneficiaries must re-confirm their status by the set deadline.
Erongo RED continues to advocate for inclusive access to basic services, and this re-registration drive plays a vital role in ensuring fairness, transparency, and support for those who need it most.
