Education Ministry Reviews Strategy and Sets Foundation for Future Growth. Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture have convened for a five-day plenary meeting aimed at reviewing current operations and setting a clear direction for the years ahead. The gathering, which began today, focuses on finalising the 2024/25 Ministerial Annual Plan, developing the 2025/26 Annual Plan, and completing the draft Strategic Plan for the period 2025/26 to 2030/31.

Opening the session, Executive Director Ms. Sanet Steenkamp emphasised the significance of building strong foundations to ensure consistent excellence within the education sector. “You cannot build a house without a strong foundation,” she said, urging participants to approach the planning process with focus and commitment. Steenkamp called on attendees to fully engage, uphold punctuality, and contribute actively to the discussions to ensure that the outcomes are meaningful and actionable.

The meeting is attended by senior leadership, including Deputy Executive Directors, Directors, Deputy Directors, and Chief Education Officers from across all regions. Their collective input aims to create a cohesive and practical strategy that aligns with national priorities.

By the end of the workshop, the Ministry expects to have a completed Annual Plan for the 2025/26 financial year, which will serve as the roadmap for delivering key activities and improvements in the education sector. In addition, the Strategic Plan will provide long-term guidance, aligning with the Ruling Party Manifesto and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the period 2025 to 2031.

This strategic planning session is seen as a vital step in ensuring that the Ministry not only meets its immediate objectives but also strengthens its contribution to national development through improved education delivery and cultural advancement.
