DP World Invests $2 Million in Namibia’s Cold Storage Expansion

DP World Invests $2 Million in Namibia’s Cold Storage Expansion. DP World has announced a $2 million investment in a modern temperature-controlled distribution facility at Deep Catch Namibia’s Atlantic Commercial Cold Store (ACCS) in Walvis Bay. This development is set to strengthen Namibia’s cold chain logistics, meeting rising demand for food service distribution along the coast.

The new Seapride Foods Coastal facility will add 720 pallet spaces, increasing storage capacity by 50%. A newly constructed office building will also enhance operational efficiency, supporting DP World’s expansion strategy in Southern Africa.

Bruce Denyer, Executive Vice President for Market Access Consumer in sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the significance of the investment: “With Namibia’s economy growing, driven by industries like tourism, mining, container trade, and energy development, this expansion is a crucial step in enhancing supply chain efficiency.”

Founded in 1992, Seapride Foods Coastal has become a major distributor of meat, seafood, poultry, frozen foods, and beverages in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa, serving the hospitality and retail industries. The company was acquired in 2013 by Deep Catch Namibia Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of DP World.

Christoph Kubirske, Managing Director of Deep Catch Holdings, explained the need for the facility: “We’ve faced growing demand for temperature-controlled storage, which previously required additional refrigerated containers, putting strain on local electrical infrastructure. This facility allows us to expand capacity while improving service delivery.”

With this investment, DP World aims to streamline supply chains, protect product quality, and support Namibia’s economic growth, reinforcing its commitment to advancing logistics infrastructure in the region.
