Corporate Chess Challenge Raises N$44,000 for Cancer Apple Project

Corporate Chess Challenge Raises N$44,000 for Cancer Apple Project. Strategy met generosity as corporate teams from across Namibia competed in the 2025 Corporate Chess Team Challenge, hosted by the Namibia Chess Federation. The event combined intellectual competition with a shared goal — supporting the ongoing fight against cancer through the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project.

The tournament saw participation from leading Namibian companies, each bringing teams to the boardroom-themed arena for a day of tactical battles and teamwork. RMB Namibia claimed the championship title, with NamPower securing second place and Green Enterprise Solutions finishing third.

Beyond the competition, the event successfully raised N$44,000, all of which will go toward the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project, a national initiative dedicated to supporting cancer awareness, treatment, and education across the country.

Bank Windhoek’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Audrey Mostert, commended the collaboration between corporate Namibia and the chess community. “We are proud to see companies uniting not only for the love of the game but for a cause that impacts so many lives. Our commitment to social development and wellness remains unwavering,” she said.

The Namibia Chess Federation thanked all participants and sponsors for their contributions, highlighting the growing interest in chess as both a sport and a platform for social impact. The Corporate Chess Challenge continues to serve as an example of how intellectual sports can foster teamwork while driving meaningful change within society.

The funds raised will help sustain the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project’s mission to promote early detection and support cancer care initiatives, reinforcing the power of corporate partnerships in building a healthier nation.
