City of Windhoek Launches Training for Early Childhood Centres in Katutura. The City of Windhoek has announced a capacity-building training programme for Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres in Katutura and informal settlements, scheduled to run from 2–6 March 2026.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the skills of ECD practitioners, equipping them to create safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environments for young children. By focusing on professional development, the programme aims to enhance the quality of early learning experiences, ensuring that children in underserved communities receive the support they need during their formative years.
According to the City, the training will provide practical tools and knowledge to help practitioners improve classroom management, child engagement, and developmental support. It also emphasizes the importance of building environments that foster both emotional and cognitive growth.
Spaces for the programme are limited, and ECD centres are encouraged to register early to secure participation. Registration can be completed by contacting the City’s ECD Development Officers at 061 290 3385, 3505, or 3510.
The initiative reflects the City of Windhoek’s broader commitment to community development and education, recognizing that investment in early childhood care is critical to long-term social and economic progress. By targeting Katutura and informal settlements, the programme seeks to address disparities in access to quality early learning and ensure that no child is left behind.
As the training approaches, anticipation is building among ECD centres and practitioners eager to strengthen their skills and contribute to shaping a brighter future for children in their communities.
