City of Windhoek Issues Update on Water Supply Interruption in Several Suburbs. The City of Windhoek has issued an official notice updating residents about a temporary water supply interruption affecting multiple suburbs, including Okuryangava, Ombili, Hakahana, Babylon, Kilimanjaro, and City Street (part of Wanaheda).
According to the City, the disruption was caused by a pipe burst on the main supply pipeline on 5 November 2025. The incident led to a widespread outage across the affected areas, prompting urgent repair work by the city’s technical teams.
In the notice, issued on 6 November 2025, the municipality explained that repairs could not be completed the previous day due to the unavailability of specific fittings required for the job. However, repair work is currently ongoing, and the water supply is expected to be restored by 14:00 today.
The City of Windhoek extended its apologies for the inconvenience caused to residents and businesses affected by the interruption. The statement also expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and understanding while the restoration process continues.
This update follows the City’s continued commitment to improving infrastructure reliability and maintaining transparency with the public regarding essential services.
