City of Windhoek Boosts Staff Capacity Through Business Writing Training. More than 20 employees from the City of Windhoek recently participated in a three-day Business Writing Skills workshop hosted by the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM). Held from 19 to 21 April 2025, the training aimed to sharpen participants’ ability to produce clear, professional, and effective written communication.
The sessions were facilitated by Prof Fred Opali, a respected academic known for his expertise in communication and public administration. The training focused on practical writing techniques designed to enhance interactions with clients and stakeholders, aligning with the City’s broader goals of improving service delivery.
This workshop forms part of a wider collaboration between the City of Windhoek and NIPAM, which includes training in both Business Writing Skills and Customer Services. These initiatives are part of the City’s continuous professional development programme for staff and a strategic effort to strengthen public engagement and efficiency.
The City has been rolling out these training sessions over the past two weeks, with additional employee groups scheduled to attend in the coming months.
By investing in employee development, the City of Windhoek reinforces its commitment to upskilling its workforce and ensuring that all communication—whether internal or external—meets high standards of clarity and professionalism.
