Capricorn Group Empowers Vulnerable Children Through ChangeMaker Initiative. Capricorn Group, through its ChangeMaker Programme, has partnered with Pick n Pay Namibia and Wutow Trading to support Tee Di Helping Hands, a community organization aiding vulnerable San children in Okahandja’s Five Rand Camp. The initiative, launched on February 21, 2025, underscores Capricorn Group’s commitment to driving positive change through collaboration.
Employees of Capricorn Group contributed essential school supplies, including uniforms, shoes, and stationery for 36 children. Additionally, the company’s IT department donated a laptop to enhance Tee Di Helping Hands’ administrative and educational efforts. Wutow Trading, with support from Unilever SA, provided hygiene and cleaning products valued at over N$7,000, while Pick n Pay Namibia’s Okahandja branch pledged to donate bread worth N$3,897 monthly to support the children’s nutrition.
Marlize Horn, Group Executive: Brand & Corporate Affairs at Capricorn Group, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Tee Di Helping Hands is doing remarkable work with minimal resources. Their dedication to providing education and care to marginalized children gives them hope for a better future.”
Tee Di Helping Hands was founded by Defney Kasongo after she lost her job during the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization focuses on providing essential services and education to underprivileged children. Kasongo expressed deep gratitude for the donations, noting that they bring hope and security to the children.
Graeme Mouton, Managing Director of Pick n Pay Namibia, highlighted the power of partnerships, stating, “Working together for a common goal creates a bigger impact.” This initiative exemplifies Capricorn Group’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and demonstrates how collaboration can uplift vulnerable communities.
