Capricorn Group Employees Collaborate on ‘Plot to Plate’ Initiative to Enhance Food Security

Capricorn Group Employees Collaborate on ‘Plot to Plate’ Initiative to Enhance Food Security. Capricorn Group employees, known as Changemakers, have partnered with the Plot to Plate project in Groot Aub to promote sustainable agriculture and strengthen food security within the community.

On 28 March, the Changemakers visited the Plot to Plate site—a community initiative funded by the Capricorn Foundation—to provide hands-on support and gain insights into grassroots sustainable farming practices. This collaboration underscores Capricorn Group’s commitment to fostering environmental stewardship and community empowerment.

During the visit, Stefan Eins, a leading permaculture expert in Namibia, conducted an educational session on sustainable agriculture. Employees engaged in practical activities, including cleaning the garden, establishing a composting pit, and planting various fruit trees suited to the local climate. These efforts aim to create a lasting impact by promoting self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability in Groot Aub.

Rikus Grobler, Innovations Manager at Capricorn Group, highlighted the initiative’s broader objectives: “This project is more than just growing food; it’s about creating lasting, positive changes that sustain local communities for years to come.”

The Plot to Plate project aligns with Capricorn Group’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity in Namibia. In 2021, the Group initiated a Green Week, during which employees established vegetable gardens in informal settlements around Windhoek, benefiting various community projects.

As the Plot to Plate initiative progresses, Capricorn Group and its partners remain dedicated to achieving a future where food security, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment are central to Namibia’s development efforts.
