Ambassador Emilia Mkusa Appointed Secretary to the Cabinet. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Ambassador Emilia Ndinelao Mkusa as the new Secretary to the Cabinet. The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a significant appointment in the public administration of Namibia. Ambassador Mkusa takes over from Dr George Simataa, who retired earlier this year after serving in the role since 2010.
Ambassador Mkusa brings with her decades of public service experience and a strong track record in diplomacy and governance. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Political Advisor in the Office of the President. Her diplomatic experience includes her tenure as Namibian Ambassador to Ethiopia, where she also held the position of Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
Earlier in her career, she served as Secretary to the National Council and later joined the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation as Director of Administration, where she played a key role in supporting Namibia’s foreign policy and international engagements.
The appointment has been widely welcomed by senior officials and observers, who view it as a move that reinforces the President’s commitment to experienced leadership within the public service.
