Namibia’s ICT Ministry Secures N$1.2 Million in Sponsorship for 9th ICT SSummit. Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) has secured N$1.2 million in sponsorship for the country’s upcoming 9th ICT Summit, with additional support provided in kind.

Sponsors from the Platinum, Gold, Diamond and Silver categories contributed to the sponsorship total. The Ministry said several sponsors also provided support in kind, including technical expertise and partnerships for the summit.

Speaking at the launch of the 9th ICT Summit and sponsorship handover lunch on Friday, 28 August 2026, Minister of ICT Emma Theofelus called on government, the private sector, academia and civil society to work together in developing an inclusive digital ecosystem.

Theofelus said Namibia’s digital transition could not be carried by government alone and expressed appreciation to corporate champions, industry players, public enterprises and sponsors supporting the summit through funding, resources and shared objectives.

She also highlighted investment in platforms such as the ICT Summit as an opportunity to contribute to Namibia’s digital infrastructure and the future of its people.

Deputy Minister of ICT Wenzel Kavaka said Namibia, like other developing countries, had entered a new phase of the digital revolution.

Kavaka stressed that Namibia could not remain on the sidelines and called for collaboration among stakeholders to build digital environments that are dynamic and secure while empowering citizens and businesses.

The 9th ICT Summit is scheduled to take place from 12 to 16 October 2026 at the Ongwediva Trade Centre.

According to MICT, the Ministry wants the summit’s impact to be measured not only by attendance, but also by the results generated after the event.

The summit will explore the role of technology in inclusive service delivery, education, business productivity and ICT opportunities for Namibia’s youth.
