Ondangwa Stadium Project Moves into Key Development PPhases. The Ondangwa Sports Stadium Project has advanced into phases two and three of construction, marking significant progress in the development of one of northern Namibia’s most anticipated sports facilities.
Work is currently underway on the tarred access road, ablution facilities, and grandstands, which form part of the next stage of the multi-million-dollar project. Since the groundbreaking ceremony on 6 June 2024, the stadium has steadily moved forward, with each phase designed to bring modern infrastructure closer to completion.
The stadium is envisioned as a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting a variety of sporting codes, while also providing athletes and spectators with contemporary amenities. Its development is expected to transform the region’s sporting landscape, offering opportunities for talent development and community engagement.
Support from key institutions has been instrumental in driving the project forward. Contributions from the Road Fund Administration, NamPower, and the Fish Consumption Promotion Trust—including a donation of N$300,000—have reinforced the collaborative effort behind the stadium’s construction.
Local stakeholders have welcomed the progress, noting that the facility will not only enhance sports infrastructure but also contribute to broader socio-economic development in Ondangwa and surrounding areas. Improved access roads and modern facilities are expected to boost participation in sporting activities, attract events, and stimulate local business opportunities.
As construction continues, the Ondangwa Sports Stadium stands as a symbol of investment in community development and the future of Namibian sport. The completion of phases two and three will bring the project closer to delivering a venue that embodies both national pride and regional growth.
