Bank Windhoek Boosts Ramblers Soccer Tournament with N$300,000 Sponsorship. The Bank Windhoek Ramblers Soccer Tournament has received a sponsorship boost of N$300,000 to host its fifth edition in Windhoek and Keetmanshoop this June. The tournament aims to provide a structured environment where emerging players can sharpen their skills and showcase their talent.
According to a statement from Bank Windhoek, this year’s competition will feature 14 teams, with six from Windhoek and eight from Keetmanshoop. The event is expected to attract scouts and professional clubs, offering young players opportunities to advance their football careers. “The teams will also be competing for bragging rights, because in the past five years, young football players who have showcased exceptional talent have been selected to play for the Namibian National Football Team, the Brave Warriors,” the statement noted.
Bronwyn Moody, Bank Windhoek’s Head of Strategic Partnerships and Corporate Social Responsibility, emphasized the bank’s commitment to investing in the future of Namibian sport. “The tournament is more than just a competition; it is a stepping stone for young athletes to realize their dreams and build meaningful careers in football,” she said.
Klaus van Neil, Executive Committee member of the Ramblers Soccer Academy, commended the sponsorship, noting the tournament’s growth and its established place on the local football calendar. He encouraged community members to attend, highlighting that entry to both venues will be free.
The top teams will receive prize money, with N$10,000 for first place, N$7,500 for second, and N$5,000 for third. Matches in Windhoek will run from 17 to 20 June, while Keetmanshoop will host games from 26 to 28 June. The sponsorship underscores the role of corporate support in nurturing grassroots football and creating pathways for Namibia’s next generation of players.
