MEIYSAC Conducts Regional Assessments for National Sport Infrastructure Project. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) is conducting regional visits across Namibia to assess sites for the development of basic sport infrastructure. The initiative forms part of a national effort to expand access to sports facilities in 121 constituencies.
On 12 August 2025, MEIYSAC officials met with the Otjinene Councillor and local leadership to review a proposed development site. The team subsequently visited Okandjira – Ovitoto in the Omatako Constituency, Otjozondjupa Region, where they were received by Deputy Directors from the Regional Council and officers from the Village Council.
In Erongo Region, the Ministry delegation engaged with Regional Council management and stakeholders at the Governor’s Office. The meetings provided an opportunity to brief local authorities on the Ministry’s mission and secure formal support prior to undertaking site inspections.
The first site visit in Erongo took place on 18 August 2025 at Uis Settlement in the Daures Constituency. These assessments aim to evaluate the suitability of identified locations and ensure that planned facilities meet community needs.
Through these engagements, MEIYSAC emphasizes collaboration with communities and regional leadership to advance the development of accessible sport facilities across the country. The programme reflects the Ministry’s commitment to promoting sports, youth engagement, and active lifestyles at a grassroots level.
As site assessments continue, MEIYSAC plans to finalize locations for infrastructure development, with the goal of enhancing participation in sports and supporting the growth of talent nationwide.
