Ministry Charts Path Forward with Strategic Planning Workshop for 2025–2030. The Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT) has wrapped up a five-day strategic planning workshop in Windhoek, marking a key step in shaping Namibia’s trade and diplomatic priorities for the next five years.
The workshop, attended by MIRT management and senior staff, included participation from the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), as well as representatives from all 35 of Namibia’s diplomatic missions, who joined virtually. The sessions focused on developing the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for 2025–2030, ensuring alignment with broader national frameworks including the Swapo Party Manifesto Implementation Plan (SMIP) and the forthcoming Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).
In his closing address, MIRT Executive Director Ambassador Penda Naanda thanked all staff and international mission representatives for their active involvement. He noted that the strategic document discussed during the workshop is designed to empower ministry personnel at all levels to promote and defend Namibia’s national interests on the global stage.
Amb. Naanda further commended the strong team spirit, engagement, and shared sense of purpose that characterized the deliberations, emphasizing that these attributes are critical for effective policy implementation.
The final outcome of the workshop will be a detailed five-year strategic document that sets out the Ministry’s vision, key objectives, and operational strategies to drive trade, strengthen international partnerships, and enhance investment opportunities for Namibia.
