Heavy Traffic Expected as NUST Gears Up for 2025 Graduation Celebrations

Heavy Traffic Expected as NUST Gears Up for 2025 Graduation Celebrations. The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) has issued a public notice ahead of its 2025 graduation ceremonies, warning residents and road users of expected traffic congestion around the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek. The ceremonies will take place over two days, Thursday, 08 May and Friday, 09 May 2025.

According to NUST, high traffic volumes are anticipated between 06:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00 on both days. The areas expected to be most affected include Auas Road, Hosea Kutako Drive, and Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue, key routes surrounding the venue.

Due to ongoing construction works, parking outside the venue and along Aviation Road will be limited. The university is encouraging attendees and the general public to make use of public transportation where possible to help ease congestion in the area.

In addition to the traffic advisory, NUST has also issued guidance to graduands and guests. The use of cameras is prohibited during the event, though mobile phones are permitted provided they are kept on silent throughout the proceedings.

The university thanked the public in advance for their cooperation and understanding as it prepares to celebrate the academic achievements of its graduates. NUST emphasized that the occasion marks the culmination of hard work and dedication by students and the institution alike.

With graduation season being a significant annual event, motorists are advised to plan ahead and exercise patience during peak hours near the venue.
