Prime Minister Ngurare and Minister Kantema Engage Grassroots Entrepreneurs at Single Quarters. Prime Minister Hon. Elijah Ngurare and Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Hon. Emma Kantema, conducted an official visit to the historic Single Quarters marketplace to meet directly with local entrepreneurs and small business owners.
The visit formed part of the government’s broader efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially those operating in informal settings. With the vibrant market serving as a vital economic hub, the engagement provided an opportunity for policymakers to observe firsthand the daily challenges and opportunities faced by grassroots traders.
Minister Kantema emphasized the essential role SMEs play in driving inclusive economic growth, particularly in creating jobs and empowering women. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to initiatives that support local enterprise development and enhance the capacity of women and youth-led businesses.
Prime Minister Ngurare echoed the need for direct engagement with local traders, highlighting that such visits ensure policies are informed by lived experiences on the ground. He commended the entrepreneurial spirit within the community and pledged continued government support to improve the operating environment, including infrastructure and access to funding.
Traders welcomed the visit, noting it as a meaningful step towards greater visibility and recognition of their contributions to the economy.
