No Confirmed Chemical Spill After Truck Collision Near Otjiwarongo, Says Health Ministry. The Ministry of Health and Social Services has addressed public concerns following reports of a potential chemical spill after a head-on collision involving two trucks near Otjiwarongo earlier today.

The incident occurred approximately 10 kilometers outside Otjiwarongo on the B1 road. Emergency services, including the Namibian Police Force and first responders, were immediately dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.

In an official statement, the Ministry confirmed that circulating reports of a cyanide chemical spill remain unverified. While one of the trucks involved in the collision was transporting sealed bags of cyanide bricks, preliminary investigations have found no evidence of a chemical leak. The Ministry emphasized that there is no current threat to public health.

The Ministry is continuing its investigation into the incident and has committed to updating the public as more information becomes available. In the meantime, residents are advised not to spread unverified information and to follow updates through official government channels.
