Blaze Buster Quiz Ignites Fire Safety Awareness Among Windhoek Youth. The Windhoek Fire Brigade Services took the lead in promoting fire safety education among young Namibians with the successful hosting of the Blaze Buster Quiz Competition. The event brought together 24 secondary schools, each represented by a team of three learners, to compete in a high-energy, knowledge-based contest focused on fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Aimed at raising awareness and equipping youth with essential safety knowledge, the competition served as an engaging educational platform. It not only encouraged teamwork and critical thinking but also emphasized the importance of being prepared in the event of a fire emergency.

A. Shipena Senior Secondary School emerged as the overall winner, taking first place and receiving a cash prize of N$3,000 — N$1,000 for each learner. Windhoek Technical High School secured second place, with each participant earning N$750. Rocky Crest Secondary School took third place, with N$500 awarded per learner, while Delta Senior Secondary School finished fourth and received N$250 per learner.

The event’s success was made possible through the valuable support of corporate sponsors, including FNB Insurance, Book Den, Namibia Trucks and Components, and XCO Group Namibia, whose contributions helped ensure the smooth running of the competition and rewarding of participants.The Windhoek Fire Brigade Services expressed appreciation to all participating schools and sponsors, emphasizing the importance of continuous community engagement in public safety initiatives.

By combining education with competition, the Blaze Buster Quiz not only celebrated academic excellence but also instilled critical life-saving knowledge in the country’s future leaders.
