City of Windhoek Reviews Noise Control Regulations Amid Rising Concerns. The City of Windhoek has announced a review of its Noise Control Regulations No. 3612 of 2006 in response to the increasing number of noise-generating activities within the city over the past two decades. The municipality has acknowledged that certain provisions of the current regulations no longer adequately address the noise-related challenges faced by residents.
To ensure a well-structured update to the regulations, the city will conduct public consultation meetings, allowing residents to share their feedback, concerns, and suggestions on how to improve noise control measures. These meetings aim to enhance the quality of life for Windhoek residents by creating regulations that better reflect the city’s current landscape.
The meetings are scheduled to take place across various locations within Windhoek, including UN Plaza, the Khomasdal Constituency Office, and the City of Windhoek Function Hall. Additionally, separate sessions have been arranged for event organizers and other key stakeholders to provide their input.
The consultation schedule is as follows:
- John Pandeni, Katutura East and Central – UN Plaza, March 29, 2025, at 10:00
- Khomasdal – Khomasdal Constituency Office, March 30, 2025, at 10:00
- Windhoek East and West – City of Windhoek Function Hall, April 2, 2025, at 18:00
- Tobias Hainyeko – Tobias Hainyeko Constituency Office, April 5, 2025, at 10:00
- Samora Machel – Samora Machel Constituency Office, April 6, 2025, at 10:00
- Event Organizers – City of Windhoek Function Hall, April 9, 2025, at 18:00
- Brakwater – Valley of Angels, April 12, 2025, at 10:00
Residents unable to attend the meetings can also submit their feedback via email. The City of Windhoek encourages all stakeholders to participate to ensure that the updated regulations address the needs of the community effectively.
