Namibia Invests N$145 Million in ICT Expansion to Boost Connectivity

Namibia Invests N$145 Million in ICT Expansion to Boost Connectivity. The Namibian government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding telecommunication infrastructure with an investment of N$145 million into the Universal Service Fund (USF). The announcement was made by ICT Minister Emma Theofelus during the official launch of the USF by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) earlier today.

The investment aims to accelerate the rollout of network towers and other digital infrastructure to improve connectivity across the country. Theofelus emphasized that the government’s goal is to achieve 100% national connectivity, ensuring that even remote and underserved communities have access to reliable communication services.

The USF will play a key role in bridging the digital divide by funding projects that enhance internet access, mobile network coverage, and digital transformation efforts. This initiative aligns with Namibia’s broader ICT development strategy, which seeks to position the country as a leader in digital innovation and economic growth.

With increased investment in digital infrastructure, Namibia is expected to see improvements in business operations, education, healthcare, and e-governance, driving socio-economic development. The government, through CRAN, will oversee the implementation of the fund to ensure efficient use of resources in expanding connectivity nationwide.
