Namibian Schools Rewarded for Outstanding Green Initiatives. Five Namibian schools have been awarded a combined N$105,000 for their exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability through the Old Mutual Foundation’s Little Green Ambassadors Initiative. The initiative, launched in October 2023, encourages schools to create fruit-bearing tree and vegetable gardens, promoting food security and environmental awareness among young learners.

Top 5 Green Schools and Their Awards

  • Moreson Special School (Khomas) – N$40,000
  • Ariamsvlei Primary School (//Kharas) – N$30,000D.
  • D Guibeb Primary School (Hardap) – N$20,000
  • Ben van Der Walt Primary School (Omaheke) – N$10,000
  • Wilhelm Nortier Primary School (Otjozondjupa) – N$5,000

The selected schools demonstrated outstanding dedication in maintaining their green spaces, engaging students in sustainability activities, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. The prize money will support the continued development of their school gardens as long-term sustainability projects.

Old Mutual Foundation Chairperson, Patricia Olivier, emphasized the initiative’s role in empowering future generations. “Our mission is to inspire young learners to actively participate in environmental conservation while gaining valuable skills. The dedication of these schools is truly inspiring, and we are excited to see the long-term impact of their efforts.
