Namibia Sport Commission Strengthens Media and Sports Collaboration. The Namibia Sport Commission (NSC) hosted a strategic Media Engagement Session at Roof of Africa, bringing together key stakeholders from media houses and sports federations to enhance sports development and communication nationwide.
The event served as a platform to discuss vital topics, including sports tourism, online communication guidelines, and improving media accessibility to sporting events and information. The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) led discussions on the potential of sports tourism as a key driver of economic growth, while the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) provided insights on digital communication strategies for sports organizations.
A significant highlight of the engagement was the exploration of the Journalist of the Year Awards, proposed as part of the Namibia Annual Sport Awards. This initiative aims to recognize excellence in sports journalism, fostering deeper collaboration between the media and sporting bodies. By improving media access to athletes, teams, and events, the NSC hopes to elevate the visibility of Namibian sports on both local and international platforms.
The engagement session saw participation from various sports federations, including netball, wrestling, cricket, boxing, and gymnastics, alongside national media organizations such as Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) and NBC Sport.
Through initiatives like this, the Namibia Sport Commission is reinforcing the vital connection between media, sports organizations, and government bodies, ensuring that sports development remains a national priority. The session marks a step forward in promoting Namibian sports, attracting investment, and increasing media coverage, ultimately contributing to a stronger sporting culture across the country.
