MIRCO Trains Liaison Officers for State Funeral and Presidential Inauguration

MIRCO Trains Liaison Officers for State Funeral and Presidential Inauguration. The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) is conducting a one-day protocol training for Liaison Officers at the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM) today, 19 February 2025.

The training is designed to prepare Liaison Officers for their roles in two significant national events: the state funeral of Namibia’s Founding President, H.E. Dr. Sam S. Nujoma, and the 35th Independence Day celebrations, which will include the inauguration of the country’s 5th President.

During the opening address, Amb. Penda Naanda, Executive Director of MIRCO, underscored the need for professionalism, dedication, and accountability from all involved. He emphasized that the officers’ conduct would play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of these events, which will be attended by local and international dignitaries.

Amb. Leonard Iipumbu, Chief of Protocol, also addressed the officers, providing guidance on diplomatic protocols and best practices for assisting high-profile guests.

The training aims to equip the officers with essential skills in coordination, communication, and etiquette to facilitate seamless logistics and protocol management throughout both ceremonies. These events mark a pivotal moment in Namibia’s history, and the Liaison Officers are expected to play a key role in upholding the country’s image on a global stage.
