Rehoboth Celebrates Completion of Upgraded D1210 Road. The town of Rehoboth is celebrating the completion of the D1210 road upgrade, which has transformed the previously gravel path into a 1.14-kilometer bitumen-standard roadway. This project was finalized in just three months, significantly ahead of the initially planned six-month timeline.
Rudolf Muhembo, the manager responsible for infrastructure, town planning, and technical services at the Rehoboth Town Council, expressed his satisfaction with the project’s outcome. He commended both the consultant and the contractor for their exemplary work, noting that the project was completed entirely according to the initial design scope.
The construction was undertaken by Sebke Civil Contractors, led by managing director Jacobus Majiedt. The company engaged approximately 133 local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), artisans, laborers, equipment operators, and support staff, excluding their permanent employees. This approach not only accelerated the project’s completion but also provided substantial employment opportunities for the local community.
Local businesses benefited from increased demand for materials such as sand, crushed stone, cement, and other construction supplies, leading to a boost in the local economy. Majiedt highlighted the significant utilization of local companies and the positive impact on material suppliers in the area.
Rehoboth mayor Justin Coetzee hailed the new road as a significant achievement for the town’s current administration and political leadership. He emphasized that Rehoboth deserves a modern, reliable, and resilient transportation system, and achieving this goal will require bold decisions and disciplined execution. Coetzee also indicated that similar infrastructure projects are planned for the town’s future development.
The successful completion of the D1210 road upgrade not only enhances transportation within Rehoboth but also demonstrates the town’s commitment to improving service delivery and fostering economic growth through strategic infrastructure development.
